A Certified Addictions Counselor with a bachelor’s degree in social work from Winona State University in Minnesota and a master’s degree in Human Services Counseling (with an emphasis on addictions) from the National Louis University in Evanston, IL., Terry Shapiro is an expert in Addiction Treatment.
With over 25 years of experience working in addiction and behavioral health - Terry began his career as an alcohol and drug abuse counselor; has previously served as an Employee Assistance Counselor for Amtrak Railroad and then as the Executive Director at the Council for Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services in Tennessee as well as Hazelden Foundation’s Chicago location.
Throughout the years, Terry Shapiro has extensively presented at national and regional conferences, conducted countless interventions, and provided numerous print and broadcast interviews on addiction treatment - During his time working in Bogota, Colombia, Terry saw a need and implemented addiction prevention programs in schools and provided counseling to the local youth and their families.
An avid baseball fan, Terry even operated a baseball academy in Colombia and was also a scout for the world-famous Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs. Nowadays Terry is a ‘social animal’ and enjoys spending quality time with his wife and three children and two boxers, Luna and Maya.

Dr. Quesada is a dual Board-Certified Psychiatrist from The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and The American Board of addiction medicine. He completed his internship at the University of Havana and his residency training in Psychiatry at the University of Miami.
Dr. Quesada has worked as a psychiatrist and medical detox physician since 2003. He specialized in managing psychosocial stressors associated with the vast array of dual diagnoses of mental health issues. This may include but is not limited to depression, anxiety, PTSD, MDD, SUD, ADHD, and/or any other mental issues confounding the patient's diagnosis.
Dr. Quesada works in a comprehensive psychosocial approach that looks at an individual’s physical and mental wellness and ultimately helps to increase the patient's ability to function.
Dr. Moreno graduated from University of Havana, School of Medicine, in 1994, and completed Family Medicine Residency in 1998 and Neurosurgery Residency in 2004. In 2005, he went to Canada where he completed a Clinical Fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario. Since 2010 he has been working on Clinical Research on Neuroscience and Mental Wellness, completing several clinical trials on both Academic settings as well as private funded Institutions. Dr. Moreno is a Certified Principal Investigator by ACRP and a Certified Clinical Research Professional by SOCRA and trained through a board Certification on Anti-Aging and functional Medicine. His passions and main areas of expertise are in the field of Neuroscience and Mental Wellness, where he has been exploring the fundamentals of signaling molecules and ion channels for Cognitive, Behavioral and Neurodegenerative pathologies. Specifically, he has mainly focused on applying Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation on patients with Depression, OCD, Anxiety, Addictions, Pain, PTSD, Stroke and dementia.
Sarah serves as VP of Business Development and Community Relations, where she helps connect treatment providers, the business community, individuals and families with the treatment options available at Gia Miami and Vita Recovery.
Sarah has over 30 years of experience working in behavioral health programming specializing in operations, business development and community relations, as well as experience in consulting and working with national and international partners.
Sarah's career began at a therapeutic boarding school in Massachusetts. As one of the founders, she held positions beginning with direct care, Program Director, Director of Program Development and Community Relations and finally as Administrative Manager. With her background in operations and business development, Sarah conducted national and international marketing for many years. She graduated from Wheaton College (MA) with a B.A. in Political Science and International Relations. Sarah was also a board member of MAAPS, NATSAP for several years and currently serves on the board of the IECA Foundation.
Her extracurricular interests include all things equestrian and volunteering on various professional and community association boards and committees.
Jonathan Belolo, LCSW serves as the Vice President of Clinical Services at (GIA MIAMI) Vita Recovery. Jonathan’s ability to lead with compassion and treat patients with dignity and respect has allowed him to serve in several clinical and leadership roles. Jonathan grew up in South Florida where he saw a growing need to help individuals who are struggling with addiction and mental health disorders. He attended Yeshiva University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with a focus on Psychology. From there, Jonathan attended Wurzweiler School of Social Work where he graduated as a high-achieving student with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work Jonathan Belolo has over a decade of experience in the field of addiction and recovery. In 2016, Jonathan was the CEO and founder of Sunshine Recovery Center, an IOP dedicated to helping men in their journey towards recovery. In the past two years, Jonathan has been treating patients at an executive program addressing substance abuse and mental health issues among high-net worth clients. Jonathan takes pride in creating a safe space that helps people rebuild their lives and maintain long-term stability. Jonathan emphasizes the utilization of the newest, out-of-the-box, and evidence-based treatment modalities providing truly groundbreaking treatment. Jonathan also enjoys integrating the moral, ethical and spiritual teachings he has gained from his Jewish roots into the process of recovery.

Jackie is a licensed psychotherapist with over 25 years of clinical experience, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions. Proficient in evidenced based treatment, Jackie offers individual, couples, family, and group therapy.
Her clinical areas of expertise include treatment of anxiety, depression, substance abuse, LGBTQ, and marital, relationship and family issues. Jackie is also an experienced and dynamic group therapist specializing in self-esteem and assertiveness training, anxiety management, cognitive behavioral coping skills, and relapse prevention.
She has over 25 years of experience facilitating seminars for family members and loved ones struggling with co-occurring and substance abuse issues. Jackie is a Qualified Supervisor of Interns applying for Social Work, Marriage and Family and Mental Health Counselors applying for licensure.
Greg Simpson entered the field of Mental Health in 1985. During his career he has developed a great amount of experience working in the Employee Assistance Profession and the Substance Abuse Treatment Profession. He also has worked in a forensic treatment program. Greg has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for over 28 years, currently holding licenses in Illinois and Florida. During the past 15 years, Greg has been predominantly involved with Clinical Operations of residential substance abuse and mental health treatment programs. Most recently Greg has become the Clinical Coordinator at GIA Miami. Greg is an avid photographer and enjoys the abundance of wildlife in Florida.
Dr. Larry Brooks is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist and licensed psychologist in private practice in South Florida. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Pennsylvania, a PhD at the University of Miami, a clinical internship at the Yale University School of Medicine, and a fellowship in neuropsychology at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He then became an Assistant Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Miami.
He serves as the Clinical Director of Baptist Health's Brain Injury and Concussion Clinics. He conducts psychotherapy and neuropsychological assessments with individuals suffering with depression, anxiety, chronic pain, traumatic brain injury, stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and other neurological and psychiatric disorders.
Julia received her Master’s of Science in Social Work from Columbia University and graduated from Rollins College with a Bachelor of Arts. She has been recognized as a top student at both institutions.
Upon graduation, Julia earned a converted position with a Manhattan based concierge outpatient treatment center as a therapist. It was there that she established an Intensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Curriculum and Mentorship Program. Julia specializes in working with co-occurring disorders, inclusive of substance abuse disorder. Throughout her career, she has also been responsible for running executive functioning programs, recovery groups, and several therapeutic process groups making her an integral part of the recovery team.
Julia employs her sense of humor to engage clients. She provides a balance of empathy and insight to help bring the client towards their motivation to change. Her holistic approach allows the client to achieve full recovery.
Gustavo Espino is a top-level addiction service professional with over 20 years of experience, specializing in substance abuse, therapeutic counseling, and workforce management. Gustavo is a dedicated specialist, bilingual in both English and Spanish, with excellent technical, analytical, and communication skills. He holds a Master’s in Education on Guidance and Counseling and Florida Certification Board Credential as Master Level Addiction Professional, Gustavo also is a Smart Recovery facilitator and is certified by San Buenaventura University in Medellin Colombia as Substance Abuse Counselor, and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineer from Metropolitana University, Caracas, Venezuela.
Born and raised in Caracas Venezuela and witnessing the underserved communities of the inner cities, Gustavo quickly recognized the need for better substance abuse programs and jumpstarted his career into addiction services. Gustavo worked closely with Fundación Hogares Claret of Venezuela and later became Executive Director of “Despertares, Therapeutic community “a 20-bed treatment center for drug and alcohol abuse for adults. In 2007, he moved to the United States and joined CRUSADA a research program at Florida International University studying US Latino HIV/AIDS and Drug Abuse for 4 years. He has since worked for many mental health and substance abuse institutes such as Elements Behavioral Health at The Recovery Place and Lucida Treatment Center, Delphi Behavioral Health Group At Pathway to Hope, Arete and Vista Pines amongst others with roles as a practitioner and executive manager.
Jennifer Sills is a PA-C who specializes in providing care to those affected by a wide range of psychiatric conditions. In 2011 Jennifer graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in psychology with minor in Spanish from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and pursued undergraduate research by means of a three key drug discrimination study to investigate chemical solvents. Prior to beginning PA school, she had the opportunity to explore many facets of the healthcare system as a medical assistant and EMT-B which solidified her decision to further pursue a career in medicine. In 2018 Jennifer graduated from Miami Dade College Medical Campus PA program and became licensed as a PA-C.
Valentina Linoci is an Italian psychology graduate. She grew interested in mental health during her studies and went on to pursue a neuroscience degree in Miami.
Valentina has worked as a medical assistant for three years and has acquired crucial patient communication skills.
She enjoys Yoga and dancing in her spare time.
Kylie Stoops is an enthusiastic administrative professional with a reputation for being driven, organized, and efficient. She recently graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 2020 where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Health Administration and a minor in Business Law.
Kylie is a currently working on her post graduate degree at FAU and is working towards her master’s degree in Health Care Administration and is projected to graduate in 2022.
Kylie began working in behavioral healthcare in 2016 and has demonstrated success in assisting multiple departments in mental health and substance abuse facilities such as administration, HR, insurance billing and collections, finance, quality assurance, case management, and admissions acting as a liaison between Chief Executive Officers and employees. Moreover, Kylie has played an integral part in initial DCF licensures for 5 levels of care including inpatient detox, residential 1-5, P.H.P., I.O.P. and O.P., multiple Joint Commission accreditations and an AHCA accreditation. Kylie’s varied experience allows her to oversee operational efficiency and implement systems that align with the company’s mission and values.
Jessica Edelstein Montero has been working in the field of substance abuse and mental health for 7 years. She believes that having the opportunity to be the person to assist someone in getting the help they need is not only an honor but a privilege.
Jessica is an Argentinian born, raised in New Jersey. She lived there until she was 15 years old, and then moved to Puerto Rico. Jessica studied Social Work and is a wife and mother to two handsome boys. She has now been living in Florida for 10 years.
Diana has accumulated substantial administrative expertise over the last two decades in administrative, office management, and executive assistant roles. Diana focuses on the execution of strategic administrative plans; the creation, structuring, and improvement of administrative, finance, and human resources areas.
Diana has supported C-level executives and fundamental areas such as sales, marketing, customer service, and operations, as well as collaboration with local and worldwide leaders through critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
In her spare time, Diana takes advantage of her free time to spend quality time with her beloved family, meet with friends, exercise, and travel occasionally.
Dr. Sanchez, Psy. D, MS, MA, LHMC, CAP, draws on more than 30 years of diversified leadership experience spanning multiple industries across four states. The tactical oversight he provides at GIA Miami ensures that the clinical and behavioral health care staff are providing the best quality and empirically validated behavioral/addiction health care interventions to the patients served.
Dr. Sanchez has served in the capacity of chief operating officer and chief executive officer/executive director in many facilities over the past 30 years. Additionally, he has served as an expert consultant in the South Florida tri-county area. Dr. Sanchez worked as an expert consultant in forensic settings in Florida, New York, California and Texas in courtroom forums, jury research and for the federal and state corrections departments. He studied and trained in multiple addiction treatment facilities, psychiatric hospitals, residential settings, community mental health centers, and private practice settings in South Texas, South Florida, New York and California. Dr. Sanchez earned his Associates Degree in 1989 from Del Mar College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Texas in 1992 and a Master of Science in Counseling from Texas A&M in 1995. He earned his non-terminal Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology in 2003 from Albizu University and completed his Doctorate in Clinical and Forensic Psychology from Albizu University in 2008.
