About Accelerated TMS for Depression
Accelerated TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is a non-invasive, drug-free treatment for major depressive disorder (MDD). It uses gentle magnetic pulses to stimulate the areas of the brain involved in mood regulation. This treatment is FDA-cleared and designed for people who haven’t found enough relief from medications or who prefer a non-medication option.
A Faster Path to Feeling Better
Unlike traditional TMS, which typically requires daily visits over six weeks, accelerated TMS is completed much more quickly.
Here’s how it works:
- Intensive Phase:
You receive 5 short TMS sessions per day, for 6 treatment days within a 2-week period.
Each session lasts only a few minutes, with breaks in between. - Continuation Phase:
After the intensive phase, you will return for 2 sessions per week for 3 additional weeks.
This helps strengthen and maintain the improvements you’ve made.
Why Patients Choose Accelerated TMS
- Shortens the overall treatment timeline
- Non-invasive and does not require anesthesia or medication
- Well-tolerated, with most people able to return to daily activities right after sessions
- Backed by clinical research and FDA clearance
